Treatments and Services which we can offer to help care for your lawn

Lawn Aeration
Lawn aeration is arguably one of the most important mechanical procedures your lawn needs. A professional machine will spike thousands of holes into your lawn to open up the soil allowing nutrients, oxygen and in turn reducing compaction. There are a few different types of aeration(hollow core, spiked, fracture tine) we can provide the best method to suit your lawns needs.

Scarification
Scarifying your lawn is a mechanical process of removing thatch, moss and organic matter from your lawn. Thatch acts a sponge therefore stopping vital nutrients such as water and oxygen getting to the root of your lawn. Scarifying can be a brutal process but your lawn will recover. Scarifying will sometimes be combined with 'Overseeding & Top Dressing' to enhance the recovery. Scarifying is usually carried out in the Spring or Autumn whilst the grass is actively growing.
Over Seeding
Over Seeding allows us to thicken up the lawn with some fresh high quality grass seed, it will usually be carried out alongside Lawn Aeration, Scarification or Top dressing which will give the seed a bed to germinate. Over Seeding may also be a method to reseed bare areas, patches of grass killed off (for example by dog urine) or high traffic areas where the grass gets very worn.
Top Dressing
Top Dressing uses either a fine organic lawn dressing or a 70:30 Soil mix. The organic lawn dressing will enhance soil quality, enhance germination and give your lawn the boost it needs. 70:30 will often aid drainage, improve soil and also is used to level uneven patches.
Lawn Renovation
The Lawn Renovation process uses a mix of the above to renovate your existing lawn. For best results Scarifying, Aerating, Overseeding, top dressing will be required along with a pre seed fertiliser. However we can adjust the process to suit any budget, these options will be explained and we can make the best plan to suit you and your lawn.
Additional Services
Alongside are primary services we can also offer additional services such as regular or one-off Mowing, Patio and drive weed control, Moss clearing on hard surfaces, Algae/grime cleaning from hard surfaces and any lawn services you may require then if we can help we certainly will.

Season Starter
A slow release feed to get you lawn ready for the new season.
Late Spring Treatment
A well balanced granular lawn feed to help your lawn thrive in the growing season and become stronger going forward. First hit at any weeds coming through with a selective herbicide.
Summer Treatment
Drought safe feed to allow for dry periods, a controlled release means your lawn will only get the feed it needs at the correct time. Spot treatment of weeds will also be added at this stage.
Autumn Treatment
As temperatures begin to drop a low nitrogen feed will keep a healthy growth without producing excess growth. A first hit at moss control.
Winter Lawn Conditioner
Moss control applied and a soil conditioner to help keep the lawn healthy over winter.
Watering Advice
Watering is key to any plant to survive and grass is no different. During periods of drought your lawn will begin to turn brown as the grass goes dormant. Grass will usually recover in time after substantial rainfall but in some cases some renovation work may be required. Grass needs on average 25mm of water per week so if you are not in a hosepipe ban and are able to, you may choose to water to keep your lawn looking green all year round. When fresh turf or reseeding a new lawn is undertaken it is essential this is watered until the turf has taken or the new seed has germinated.
Mowing Advice
Regular mowing will help keep your lawn tidy and done correctly will promote a stronger, healthier lawn. It is important not to cut too low and also not cut off too much in one go. Generally never mow more than 1/3 of the height. Keep your blade sharp and ensure your mower is well maintained throughout the season. Try to keep edges in neat order with edging tools or strimming. We also offer mowing so get in touch if you need our help.

At Tip Top Lawn Care we can tailor our services to suit any client's needs. With over 7 years in the gardening, lawn and horticulture industry. Owner and founder Reece started up his gardening business in 2015 after becoming RHS qualified at agricultural collage, Otley. Providing general gardening services, alongside, mowing and lawn care. As of 2022 'Tip Top Lawn Care' was created to focus fully on the lawn care side of the business. With the help and advice of industry expert Richard Salmon at Pro Lawn Care UK and becoming a member of the UK Lawn Care Association supporting independent lawn care businesses across the UK.
