Wiltshire

Wiltshire is a county in South West England, an area dominated by lowlands and wide valleys – most notably that of Salisbury Plain, which is famous for the historically significant manmade rock formations Stonehenge and Avebury stone circles. 

The region sits on a mixture of geological formations, however the land is predominantly made of underlying chalk formations – one of the most notable leading to the North Wessex Dows, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The northwest lies atop of limestone formations, part of which fall within the boundaries of the Cotswolds, whilst the southeast of the county sits on the sandy soils of the northernmost area of the New Forest. The western fringes of the county are mostly greenbelt land, and the rest of the region is utilised for agriculture, mostly arable farming.

The climate in Wiltshire is generally wetter and milder than other parts of the UK, with an average temperature of 11°C. Rainfall varies widely throughout the year which can make weather unpredictable, however it is at its highest in August and November. Mild temperatures and average rainfall therefore make lawn care relatively easy in this region, however gardens would benefit from manual watering in June and July.
